New Song: Vance Joy - "Straight Into Your Arms" (Premiere)
Today, July 24, Australia’s Vance Joy released his new single “Fire and the Flood” on iTunes but this wasn’t the only new song that he dropped on Apple’s digital music retailer. He released an additional track titled “Straight into your Arms”, which is confirmed for appearance also on the Aussie singer-songwriter’s forthcoming re-release of his last year-released debut album “Dream Your Life Away”.
It seems Vance Joy is not going full ‘indie folk’ with the new songs that he’s going to include on his debut album re-issue. “Fire and the Flood”, which I totally love and recommend you listening ASAP, may be a pure ‘indie folk’ ballad, but that isn’t the case of “Straight into your Arms”. The new track may have indie folk as its main DNA, but there are other elements that make it a bit more… mainstream maybe? “Straight into your Arms” is giving me serious Coldplay “Magic” (and therefore “Ghost Stories” too) vibes. So maybe those other ‘elements’ I’m hearing belong to alternative rock. In any case, whatever it is, it suits Vance Joy’s heavenly vocals well.
