New Music: Rita Ora - "Grateful" [Full Audio]
At last! This was supposed to premiere last week, and later was “confirmed” for iTunes release this last Monday but in the end it was today (Oct. 22) that Rita Ora’s brand new song “Grateful” was premiered. It did via Billboard.com. The Diane Warren-written mid-tempo “Grateful” is a song the British singer specifically recorded for the soundtrack of the upcoming film “Beyond the Lights”, a romantic-drama movie starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Nate Parker which hits theaters on November 14.
“Grateful” song review
Pretty song but it’s nothing more than that. You can definitely feel the Diane Warren "cheesy" influence, Rita sings it pretty good ("I’m grateful for the pain", she sings in the chorus), and I'm sure it will do a good job filling the movie scene it's been allocated to with adequate music, but that's it. I'd be surprised if Rita recorded a song of this sort for a studio album of hers. In that scenario, "Grateful" would totally be an album filler.
