Jessie J Plays Acoustic Gigs In LDN & NYC!
If there's one new artist you've got to keep an eye on in 2011 that's Jessie J - The English rising star started working in the music industry just a couple years ago - She began her career as a songwriter, having penned songs for top artists like Christina Aguilera, Chris Brown or Justin Timberlake. Although, her big break came with "Party In The USA", the international smash hit by Miley Cyrus that Jessie J wrote. Her talent and potential was quickly spotted by Island Records/Universal Music (UK) who signed Jessie as lead act. The fruits of this deal will be seen this year when Jessie J releases her debut album. The first single "Do It Like A Dude" is already out. Jessie hasn't been to any big-profile TV show in the UK yet and the promotion she's done so far has consisted on radio interviews and acoustics, some things for BBC Radio One online, and club gigs. And only with this "Do It Like A Dude" has managed to peak #5 in the UK. So just wait 'til Jessie hits the big television shows.
Back to today's news, check out in the video above Jessie J performing an acoustic rendition of "Do It Like A Dude" for website PinBoardBlog's "Rehearsal Rooms" series at their London studios. Also below watch Jessie J treating walk-byers at a subway station in NYC during a normal midday afternoon with a killer performance of her song "Who You Are" (which will also appear on her upcoming CD). She did beyond great. And she's already amassing some US fans! "Do It Like A Dude" can be purchased on iTunes USA but it's not fully confirmed yet if this willl also be her first single there or just a buzz track. I hope though Jessie focuses first in the UK, establishes well, and then later head to the states with a new single.
